The foundation of my work explores the relationships between observation and interpretation in everyday landscapes with a search for beauty in chaos. The contradictions and compliments in the montage of the environment can display mayhem, tranquility, fear, and courage. Nature holds strong yet fragile beauty. Urban walls painted with scrawls carry a voice. I strive to create works both in homage to and reflections on the nature of transience, public as well as personal.

My interest in creative work began while growing up in San Diego, CA. I pursued formal studies at San Diego State University, San Diego, CA, in Painting & Printmaking (BA), and Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI (MFA). My work has been recognized with grants from Pollack/Krasner Foundation, Ingrid Nickelson Trust Achievement Award, and the Beverly Faben Artists Fund Award. I often participate in art residencies including Clefmont Chateau, Clefmont, France, JIWAR, Barcelona, Spain, Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT, Morris Graves Foundation Residency, Loleta, CA, Acadia National Park, Winter Harbor, Maine, Thupelo Workshop, Cape Town, South Africa, and Greatmore Studios, Cape Town, South Africa. My artwork has been exhibited in the US, South Africa, and Europe. In addition to my creative work, my professional background includes teaching drawing, art directing, and graphic design. My home is in San Francisco, California.
